Overview

This journey allows you to visit a cultural metropolis as well as the capital of the Himalayan country of Nepal, as well as experience hiking in high territory in a rain shadow area similar to Tibetan land. Until 1991, Mustang was remote and prohibited. The trip into Mustang's realm, which lies behind the main mountain in the rain shadow area, is a memorable experience. Mustang is located north of Jomsom and Pokhara on the plateau. Life goes on as it has for generations in the capital of Lomanthang, an old walled town with an unspoilt and untouched civilisation. The countless Gompas and prayer flags go through their annual ritual. A vacation to Mustang is sure to be one of self-realization inspired by Tibetan Buddhism's all-encompassing teachings.

Trip Details

Mustang is a small kingdom in northern Nepal, hidden behind the famed Himalayan peaks Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. For centuries, it was an important transfer point for trade between Tibet and India, but this came to a halt in the 1950s due to political situations. Mustang became a restricted area, and outsiders have been prohibited from entering the territory since 1992. This was one of the reasons Mustang stayed true to its roots.

Despite the fact that Mustang is technically a district of Nepal, it is considerably more associated with Tibet due to its geographical location in the Trans Himalayan region as well as the cultural background of its residents, who practice Tibetan Buddhism. Few places in Asia have as many varied forms and structures owing to erosion as the Mustang highlands: strange minerals and stunning gorges accompany us along the way, as do many distinct shapes and structures due to erosion. In addition, we see fairy-tail hamlets with their distinctive Tschorten (shrines) and reddish painted monasteries, strongholds in various states of decay, brilliant green or golden crop fields that resemble oasis, and, as a highlight, Lo Manthang, Mustang's capital almost 600 years old and surrounded by a medieval city wall. All of these sensations are crowned by the Himalayas' massive white glacier peaks.

Pokhara is a stunning resort city. The tranquility of Phewa Lake and the majestic Machhapuchhre peak rising behind it create an atmosphere of peace and magic. Pokhara was originally part of a bustling caravan route that connected India and Tibet. This is the homeland of the Magars and Gurungs, who have achieved worldwide acclaim as Gurkha soldiers. Other significant communities in this area are Brahmins, Chhetris, and Thakalis.

Jomsom  To the north of Pokhara, Nepal's amazing diversity is on display at its best. The deep valleys and high mountains that round the massive Annapurna Himal encompass a diverse spectrum of people and scenery, ranging from subtropical jungle to a high, arid landscape reminiscent of the Tibetan Plateau. The Annapurna Nepal region is the most popular trekking region in Nepal, It is also one of the most tranquil regions, with good resorts surrounding the main roadways.

Lo-Manthang’s Culture is deeply ingrained in its people's religious sentiments. The township is densely packed with chhortens, mani-walls, and monasteries. Prayer flags flutter above every house, carrying mantras to every part of the globe. The Lobas are Buddhists who follow the Sakya-pa branch of Tibetan Buddhism. Before Buddhism, there was Bon, which was later supplanted by Ningma Pa Sect (Dhakar-Kayu subsect) and then by Sakya Pa Sect (Sakyapa, Ngorpa subsects) of Buddhism.

The Jhampa Gompa is the oldest of the three Gompas in Lo-Manthang. It was constructed in 1387 AD during the reign of the legendary monarch Anguin Sangbo and is thought to be a duplicate of Tibet's Ghangtse Jhampa Gompa, which still stands in Ghangtse.

Muktinath: Muktinath's temple and religious shrines are roughly 90 meters above Ranipauwa. There are no motels, and the temple committee prohibits camping. Muktinath is a popular pilgrimage destination for both Hindus and Buddhists. Muktinath's sacred sites are located in a grove of trees and include a Buddhist gompa and the pagode-style temple of Vishnu Mandir, which houses an image of Vishnu. A wall surrounds the temple, from which 108 waterspouts in the shape of cows' heads flow sacred water. Even more sacred is the water that flows from a rock inside the old Tibetan-style Jwala Mai temple, which is located just below the pagoda. Behind a tattered curtain, little natural gas jets emit a permanent holy flame alongside a spring that is the source of the sacred water. Muktinath's religious significance stems from this auspicious combination of earth, fire, and water. Tibetan women wearing intricate turquoise-embedded headdresses are frequently seen doing devotions at these sites.

Shaligram:

Another draw for pilgrims is the Kali Gandaki River, where one can collect Jurassic Park-era fossils. It may take only a few minutes to find a fossil, or it may take hours and fail.

These fossils, however, can be obtained at a cost from the locals. If a black stone fossil is discovered, it is regarded sacred and is preserved in the house's pooja (prayer) room. It is thought to be a sign of Lord Vishnu.

Kushma Bungee Jump is Nepal's highest bungee and the world's second-highest bungee jump, rising 228 meters. Kushma Bungee Jump is located on the boundary of Baglung and Nepal's Kushma region. The 520-meter suspension bridge in the George of Kaligandaki River connects these two regions. Aside from this, there are two more bungee jump locations in Nepal: The Last Resort and High-ground Bungee Jump, which are 160 meters and 70 meters, respectively.
