Objectives:

The main objectives of this study tour are to understand, compare and comprehend state of ecotourism in and around Chitwan National Park (CNP) and Parsa National Park (PNP). The general objectives of the study tour are:

·         To explore state of ecotourism in and around CNP and PNP

·         To compare the state of ecotourism in and around CNP and PNP

·         To understand and analyse the impacts (both positive and negative) of ecotourism on the local community, environment and the economy

·         To understanding and experiencing lifestyle of indigenous community of the study area (mainly, Tharus, Chepangs, Bankariyas, and Rai community)

Outcome of the study tour

1. Undertaking research and community interaction

·         Students are required to held discussion and undertake research with CNP and PNP Office, Tourism Associations, Homestay Service Providers, Nature Guides, Elephant Mohuts, Jeep Drivers, Boat Drivers, Naturalists, Local Community Organisations (such as Buffer Zone Management Committees, Tourism Development and Management Committees, etc.), Municipal Offices/ Ward Offices, Tourism Service Providers (Hotels, Resorts, Restaurants, Travel Agents, etc.)

2. Report writing and dissemination

·         Students are required to prepare a group report (guidelines and template will be provided) and present their findings to the concerned faculty and the BTTM department.

·         The (group) report is expected to be detailed encompassing the findings of the study.

3. Experience sharing session/ presentation

·         Students (in groups) will be required to share the experience at the study site (where applicable) and also upon return to Kathmandu (at NATHM premise). Date will be announced during the study tour.

 

Activities:

·         Spiritual and Mindfulness session

·         Jungle Walk at Parsa National Park

·         Jungle Safari at Chitwan National Park

·         Interaction Session with local indigenous community (such as Tharu, Chepang, Bankariya and Rai)

·         Food Tasting of Local Cuisine of local indigenous community (mainly, Chepang and Tharu community)

 

Introduction to Study Area

1. Chitwan National Park
